| | one day i'll find you // poema | ] |
I'll try to compress 8 days of info into one post, i'll obviously fail and it'll sound very genric and lousy but hey, i'll try. anyway i watched 2 movies on the flight to cape town.
harry potter 6 which was TERRIBLE dumbledore sucks and up! which is so cuteee "i was hiding under your porch because i love you" aww!
ashley took this pic! it's so lovelyy. the mountains of africa. they were talking about that in my new lit text..
straight after we left the plane we started the tour. we headed to tabletop mountain, which has got to be one of my favourite parts of the whole trip. it was so beautiful! i kept saying 'masyallah', god's greatness indeed.
that's ain my room mate for 5 days! the hotel room we got was sooo bigg. cause it was actually designated for 3 people, the third person was a teacher but apparently we got the room to ourselves haha
look at the horizon! my goodness i just stared at it. it's just so blue and so white and so pristine..
i didn't know and i'm sure ya'll didn't as well, but malays make up a certain population of the S.african people. Because back then indonesian slaves were brought to south africa. And in cape town, out of the 4 million people population, 1 million are muslims.
look at their street! it's so colorful. Their houses are of different colors, that's how they are located. so their addresses would be something like "green house on random street" compared to our boring numbers and letters. cool aye!
isn't this a pretty mosque~!
we went to alot of musuems during the course of the trip. Apartheid musuems, (apartheid was a policy of racial segregation between the blacks and the whites) Jail musuems and we saw the torture the blacks had to go through. it was terrible, alot of people died and the whites regarded the blacks as subhuman, like animals but seeing the torture that the whites put them through, they are the real animals honestly, such a lack in a sense of humanity
and what struck me the most was the strong sense of unity between the black people, especially the students. It made me realise and understand why some people are willing to die for a cause they truly believe in. And fighting for something you truly believe in is a great feeling.
but the pics at the bottom are from art musuems lol, so yeah anti-climatic.
F! i know i look like i have a belly in that pic BUT IT'S NOT I SWEAR!

the food was amazing! we had sushi, pasta, ice cream with brownies , food with names i can't even pronounce.. anyway we were so well fed i felt so guilty, but i couldnt stop the food was so good. this pic was taken when 3/4 of the class was eating steak, i didn't cause i was scared it wasn't halal i had chicken pasta instead which was sooo gooodd!!
this is jolyn, the sex symbol hahaha. she reminds me of my earlier self, she's into def leppard, led zep, acdc and the like. and cape town is so beautiful! everywhere you go you'll see the tabletop mountain at the background.
that's ying ling hahah!
by the way i lost my spectacles! it's somewhere in the indian ocean now. i was taking the picture below, and i was like feeling2 "im on a boat, it's a great blue watery road" you know that stupid song with t-pain? and my specs fell down when i was looking down. now i'm like partially blind and all the world seems so blur to me. but suria lent me his spare so it's pretty ok
cape town is so pretty. it's like the perfect retirement place. it's so relaxed and wow like a getaway
we were getting braids down. we wanted dreadknots but chickened out, my hair was too shrot anyway. jolyn did deep purple. (eh that's a band haha)
caitlin did red and i did light brown lol how boring. and these 2 girls were my room mates in johannesburg haha they're funnyy!
there are penguins in africa! who would have thought!? these penguins live in dry conditions.
cape town has 4 pristine beautiful beaches..or was it 3. anyway for these wonderful beaches, while we name our beaches pahlawan or siloso. they named theirs... beach 1 beach 2 beach 3. (WHUTTT!)
Oh yeah we went to the univeristy of cape town which was a beautiful campus it was so hugeee! and it has an interesting history. unlike our solid, matter-of-fact looking metal unis. i love the universities with the brick and ivy look. with beautiful architecture and cemented cornice that looks so grand
oh yeah we got all hyped up when we saw the huge mac sign. the shoppingmalls there are so expensive! we only did our shopping at flea markets and i spent like 40 US dollars on junk food! haha they actually sell the cadbury turkish delight there! i was so happy, and guess what, they also have Halal subway! man that was good.

and my favourite part of the trip was definitely going to the township school to see the children. they were such happy children then loved to hold our hands and touch our hair and smile and take pictures. and we really didn't want to leave!
this was really funny cause they are so overexcited and we wanted to take our banner out, but the kids started going under the banner and jumping and screaming and ms ng got so stressed we couldnt help cause we were all so busy laughing hahaha
and then there was the safari drive! one of the things i've always wanted to do.
giraffe! i had to zoom in lol. and there's very little pics cause the camera kept dying. was runnign out of batteries. hee.
omg the buffalos scared the sit out of us. they came so close and at one time all of them started trotting to our direction and our guide didnt want to budge! but allw as good..
the zebras were so beautiful!! of course everyone went on a ris low spam and started saying "zebra preeens"
the savannah was so beautiful. i remember i kept saying i wanted to be a zebra or lion or whatever at that point of time cause it was so beautiful! the sunset was gorgeous and the air was so clear. there was a lot of dung on the floor though, just watch for that lol
so yup, south africa is a beautiful place that has gone through many ugly struggles but witnessed a beautiful triumph of human rights and i definitely came back a changed person. i was more tanned and fatter. nah i kid, i've went halfway arnd the world and i changed this much. I wonder how much i'll change if i saw the rest of the world. it's amazing.
